<p>We have recently cleared a good section of the <a href="http://www.monmouthfishing.co.uk/river-trothy">River Trothy</a> at Lower Llantrothy Farm to make it much easier to fish.</p>
<p>The work was carried out by contractors Dennis Walker and Sons and ably helped by volunteers Peter and Jonty.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-234" title="trothy-bank-4" src="http://www.monmouthfishing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/trothy-bank-4.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>Just over a quarter of a mile of river has now been cleared and it should enable to cracking small stream trout fishing.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-229" title="trothy-bank-1" src="http://www.monmouthfishing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/trothy-bank-1.jpg" alt="Bank clearance at Lower Llantrothy Farm" width="468" height="351" /></p>
<p>The river had got into quite an overgrown state and was overgrown with fish. The photo below gives an idea of how overgrown it was.<br />
<img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-235" title="trothy-bank-5" src="http://www.monmouthfishing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/trothy-bank-5.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="312" /></p>
<p>We have thinned out the lower tree canopy, consisting mainly of willow, alder and ash to make it much easier to cast a fly.</p>
<p><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-231" title="trothy-bank-3" src="http://www.monmouthfishing.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/trothy-bank-3.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="351" /></p>
<p>To get to Lower Llantrothy farm you need to leave Dingestow and head towards the church. Keep on going past the church and after about a mile turn right at the Bungalow.</p>
<p>A few yards along there is a gate and a cattle grid. Keep on going until there is a cattle barn on the right. You can park on the left hand side opposite the barn. Walk down along side the left of the barn. At the end of the barn is a set of steps on the right. Go up the steps and at the top turn left. You then walk through the farmyard down to the river. Please note that you will be walking through a working farm.</p>
<p>Please let us know how you get on fishing this stretch.</p>
